Sclerotherapy

Spider veins on the legs are a very common problem which affects mostly women, and tends to run in families.  A common time-tested treatment for these unsightly veins is called sclerotherapy.  During sclerotherapy treatment, various solutions are introduced into the dilated veins to induce them to shrink down and become less visible.

In spite of promotions by many laser companies, sclerotherapy remains the gold standard for treatment of unsightly superficial leg veins. During sclerotherapy treatment, various solutions are introduced into the dilated veins to induce them to shrink down and become less visible.  Dr Hayre prefers to perform sclerotherapy for her patients in the Winter, because bruising is a common side effect and legs tend to heal slowly.  Veins may take several treatments for full resolution, so plan accordingly.
